Holistic Stress Relief--

Keeping a Mother's Life Sane

Stressed business woman.

We all know the effects of stress--headaches, sore muscles, headaches, etc.

As mothers we are so busy, with so many hats to wear, that managing our time, our attention and our resources can be stressful.

We must be soft and nurturing, firm and guiding, strong and providing all at the same time.

We care for our families which can range from the very young to the very old.  Some of us work outside of the home, some of us mother without partners, and some of us have limited resources.  The list of why we are stressed is very long.

And most of the time, we do OK.  However--

The "Crazy Monster" times..

    A screaming woman
  •     Screaming at the kids and ready to ground them for a month because they put a fork in the dishwasher upside down?
  •     Eating too much?  Too little?  Eating a diet solely of Häagen-Dazs Vanilla Swiss Almond ice cream?
  •     One moment feeling like you are getting everything done and the next you're sobbing in a heap on the bathroom floor?
  •     Waking with your stomach clenched and your jaw tight after dreaming all night about your list of things to do?
  •     Taking 'relaxation' time with your family but even as you're cheering your child's latest soccer goal (trying to cheer in a relaxed, 'happy' voice), you are calculating how much time this is taking and whether you'll make it to your next appointment?

Stressed?  Just a tad?

Chronic stress, the kind that goes on and on, with no ending deadline, with no resolution is debilitating and very unhealthy.  It alters your mood, your perspective, and your personality.  In fact, chronic stress alters your body chemistry.  Your body is so overwhelmed that it no longer functions well and transforms you into a monster that you and your family don't like.

The result:  ill health and disruptive behavior.  Not a pretty picture.

Never fear.

I have been there and I have many tips about how to reverse this syndrome and to regain yourself, your life, even your sense of humor.  Although in the midst of the craziness it feels permanent and immutable, it can go away!
